Motown Gospel was launched on April 1, 2013 when Capitol Christian Music Group and Universal's East Coast Label Group joined the EMI Gospel label (founded in 1998) with marketing/promotion and A&R consultation from Island Def Jam and Motown.
This innovative joint venture has resulted in a label that is committed to the development of artists who have world-class talent and a passion to use that talent to spread the Gospel through music. Motown Gospel reaches the Urban Gospel and mainstream audience with traditional and contemporary music.
Motown Gospel is the home of some of the most influential artists in the Gospel music world.
The roster includes Tasha Cobbs, Tye Tribbett, Brian Courtney Wilson, VaShawn Mitchell, Royce Lovett, Janice Gaines, Charles Jenkins & Fellowship Chicago, Myron Butler & Levi and others.
